Welcome to the Jay Bird Watching, the official podcast of JaysJournal.com. We are here to bring you all of your Toronto Blue Jays news all in one place. Our hosts Craig Borden, Liz McGuire, and Jason Lyons have got the word on these birds. Join us for our bar room style Blue Jays chat where we aim to have fun and give every Blue Jays fan a voice. We want to interact and hear everyone's stories while we have fun following our favorite baseball team!

Our Mission

The team of Craig Borden, Liz McGuire, and Jason Lyons has continued to build the podcast to 450+ episodes and counting. Our goal is to be the "People's Blue Jays Podcast". We want to interact with fans and bring content that we are proud of to the die-hard Jays fans, in addition to general baseball fans. There will be weeks in which we have fans on the show to discuss their Jays fandom in addition to former/ current players throughout the Jays organization, Jays announcers, baseball industry experts, and just people who have fun around the game!

"We want to have fun and entertain while we do it! Our goal from day one was to interact and hang out with fans. We want to hear their stories, their passions, and enjoy the game of baseball together. Have fun, fans first, and as always lets go Blue Jays!"
"When things are going well you will hear the cheers and when things are rough you will hear the peanuts hitting the TV in the background. That is the bar room chat we aim to have on this show and everyone is invited."
- Craig Borden

How We Got Started

The Jay Bird Watching Podcast started as a side project by Craig Borden as an effort to interact with more Blue Jays fans during games. With Craig being from Rochester, NY he wanted to have more fun with Jays fans when he was not able to make the trip up to Toronto. In doing so, the Bird Watching Game Cast was born! The idea was to broadcast the game with fan commentary instead of the Blue Jays' normal crew and have the Manning Cast of Blue Jays baseball. After doing one show a month on a weekend for a few months, it was asked by people who had attended the Game Cast asked if we would ever want to migrate over to a podcast. After the success of that, we did indeed translate over to a weekly show with Co-hosts Adam Corsair and Brendan Panikkar at the time. That trio carried the show for years and through many wonderful fan guests, players, and Blue Jays proxy people, and we had so much fun! The current trio carries the torch and has established a wonderful spot within Toronto fandom as a place to come every week and discuss all things Blue Jays baseball on our LIVE shows! Such a pleasure to record LIVE for every one of our episodes and deliver that personal touch to the best fan base in sports!

Liz McGuire on Vlad Guerrero Jr.

“He’s our main guy, but he has a good narrative for fans. His father played for the Montreal Expos. He was born in Montreal. He was was a little kid on the Expos field. His father never won a World Series, so he’s also playing to get his father a ring, which is a really lovely story.”

Liz also went on to comment that Ernie Clement (“He’s a guy that can get it going”) and Bo Bichette as names newcomers should know.
